A slow-travel coffee trail through the Kootenays
Follow the road to warm cups, mountain towns and cafe stories.
The Cozy Cafe Route is a visitor-first guide to independent cafes across Nelson, Kaslo, the Slocan Valley and beyond. It is for road trippers, weekend wanderers and locals who like their coffee with a sense of place.

A guidebook route built for wandering, not rushing.

Discovery route
Nelson streets, mountain light and stories just off the sidewalk.
Made for curious travellers
A gentler way to discover the Kootenays.
The Cozy Cafe Route was created from a simple idea: travel feels richer when you understand the people behind the places. Across the Kootenays, small cafes quietly play an important role. They welcome locals every day, offer rest to travelers, and hold stories that rarely make it into guidebooks. This route exists to share those stories.
Cafes are some of the most accessible and welcoming spaces in any community. You do not need a ticket, an appointment, or special gear to walk into a cafe. You just need curiosity. In small towns, cafes often become community hubs, creative spaces, and meeting points for locals and visitors.
The Cozy Cafe Route is not a marketing platform or a review site. It is a storytelling experience designed to support slow travel and community connection.

Put your cafe on the route.
The Cozy Cafe Route was created in partnership with cafes as a shared storytelling experience, not a marketing platform.
Cafes on the route are treated as partners, not advertisers. Being part of the route means sharing your story thoughtfully and welcoming visitors who arrive curious and intentional.
Participation is simple and low-pressure. Founding cafes are invited to join the pilot phase at no cost, with optional enhanced storytelling or seasonal campaigns available in the future.

For creators
Creative campaigns for coffee storytellers.
Creators and photographers who are passionate about coffee, travel and visual culture can take part in creative campaign programs designed to share the vision of The Coffee Culture. We are looking for collaborators who can capture cafe moments with warmth, honesty and a strong sense of place.
